Community Involvement
Project protein
Over the past few years, my wife and I have had the opportunity to be involved with St. Martin’s Ministries, in Ridgely, Maryland. Our introduction to this non-profit organization came about from the connections that a number of our landlords had to St. Martin’s.
Saint Martin’s Ministries has been fighting poverty on the Shore for over thirty (30) years, and provides meals for over 250 families each month. We recently learned that they were in need of a protein source for their food pantry. 1,500 lbs. of protein are needed each month to feed the 250+ families they service.
Last month Harborview Farms purchased bulk chicken from Mountaire Farms at a wholesale price and donated it to the St. Martin’s food pantry. The staff and families were so appreciative of this donation that it occurred to us how easy it would be to continue this donation on a monthly basis with the help of other businesses and/or individuals.
We have since contacted the following companies to join us in helping to provide a protein source for the many needy families here on the shore. We have proposed a “Sponsorship of the Month” where a business would donate 1,500 lbs. [minimum] of chicken for St. Martin’s. The donation would be tax deductible and all of the logistics would be handled by Harborview Farms.
We would like to thank the following companies that have agreed to sponsor a month:

Atlantic Tractor
Binkley & Hurst
